How to Play Noillirk — Rules and Scoring
Noillirk is a daily answer game where the strongest answer is the one most people would give first. Everyone gets the same ten prompts and the same frozen answer list.
How a round works
- Open Noillirk and read the prompt all the way through.
- Type the ordinary answer a typical player would give.
- Submit before the 15-second timer expires.
- Repeat for all ten prompts.
- Check your score out of 1,000 and see which tiers you landed in.
There is no account and no sign-in. The board resets at 00:00 UTC, while Unlimited practice lets you answer continuous prompts whenever you want. The daily prompt set and answer prior are frozen before play begins, so the same answer scores the same for anyone on that board.
The five scoring tiers
Noillirk groups equivalent answers before scoring. A dog, dogs and “a dog” can represent the same answer. Your tier depends on how common that answer is among the reference responses.
| Tier | Answer rank | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Top answer | #1 | 100 points |
| Runner-up | #2 | 75 points |
| Top 5 | #3–5 | 50 points |
| Top 10 | #6–10 | 25 points |
| Off the board | #11+ or unmatched | 10 points |
Ten top-answer results produce 1,000 points. A lower tier is still useful feedback: it tells you whether your answer was close to the crowd's first thought or drifted into a less common interpretation.
How to score better
Answer quickly with the obvious category prototype before you search for a clever exception. Imagine one hundred ordinary players seeing the same prompt. The answer that arrives first for most of them is usually the answer Noillirk wants. Avoid overly specific answers, trivia detours and spelling tricks: normalization groups meaning, not formatting.
Use the timer as a decision aid. Fifteen seconds is long enough to read carefully and short enough to stop endless second-guessing. If your first answer is broad, familiar and easy to type, it is often stronger than a technically correct detail.
What happens after you submit
Each answer is normalized before it is checked, so harmless differences such as capitalization, punctuation or a leading article do not change the intended answer. The server compares the normalized answer with the frozen list for that prompt and returns a tier. The list is not edited while a daily board is live, which means two players who submit the same answer on the same day receive the same points.
The result screen shows the score for every prompt and the total out of 1,000. Treat that breakdown as a lesson rather than a verdict. A Top answer means you matched the most common recorded response; Runner-up and Top 5 show that your instinct was close; Top 10 and Off the board show where the crowd moved in another direction. You can use those tiers to decide whether your next answer should be broader, shorter or less clever.
Daily board and Unlimited practice
The daily board resets at 00:00 UTC. Everyone gets one ranked attempt at that board, and the prompt set plus answer prior are fixed before it opens. If you want to experiment after finishing, open Noillirk Unlimited. Unlimited uses the same fifteen-second timer, but it is continuous, unranked and separate from the daily score.
That separation protects the meaning of the daily result. A practice climb can be a warm-up, a teaching round or a place to test a new strategy. The shared board remains a clean comparison because every player is answering the same prompts under the same limit.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Picking the most defensible detail. A technically correct niche answer may be valid but still less common than the category default.
- Waiting for certainty. The timer is designed to capture recognition. Once the broad answer is clear, submit it.
- Reading one miss as a new rule. A single unusual prompt does not change the strategy for the other nine.
- Confusing practice with the daily board. Unlimited is useful for learning, but only the published daily round contributes to the shared result.
